Our Story

Gabriel and Gloria’s love story began long before they ever imagined it would become a love story at all. In 1999, they both enrolled at La Serna High School in Whittier, California. They graduated together in 2001, and, as life often does, their journeys led them down separate roads.

After graduation, life unfolded for each of them in its own way. Gabriel married, welcomed a beautiful daughter, and later experienced divorce. Gloria also married, and after 14 years, her marriage ended. Though time and circumstance carried them in different directions, something unseen seemed to keep their paths close enough to cross again.

In 2009, Gloria sent Gabriel a friend request on Facebook, and they exchanged a few brief messages. A year later, in 2010, their paths intertwined once more during a chance encounter at the Whittier Post Office. They only exchanged simple hellos, but even that small moment became part of the quiet thread connecting them. Then time passed again, and each continued living their separate lives.

Then, in February 2024, a beautiful and unexpected turn began to unfold. Gloria shared a message on Instagram about love, and Gabriel’s sister, Joyce, responded with words that would gently open the door to something new: “I love your energy. I have a brother I would like you to meet.” Gloria replied that she would be open to meeting him, not yet realizing that the brother Joyce had in mind was someone from her past.

Months later, in May, curiosity led Gloria to reach out to Joyce. A little confused, she asked whether the brother Joyce mentioned was Gabriel or someone else. Joyce confirmed that it was indeed Gabriel. Gloria’s heart was open, and she said she would love to reconnect and catch up with him.

On June 1, 2024, Gabriel replied to one of Gloria’s Facebook stories, and their conversation began again as if time had gently waited for them. They shared updates about their lives and soon agreed to meet. Eager to see him after so many years, Gloria did not wait long. She called Gabriel and invited him to dinner at Don Chente Restaurant in Pico Rivera.

On June 6, 2024, they saw each other for the first time in more than two decades. After rushing home from work, Gloria quickly chose her outfit: a dress paired perfectly with her Converse sneakers. Gabriel arrived looking effortlessly elegant in a light blue suit. When Gloria opened the front door and saw him standing there, their eyes locked. In that instant, the years between them seemed to disappear, and his warm smile captivated her completely.

Their dinner was filled with the music of a live band, laughter, tender moments of reflection, and conversations that felt both meaningful and familiar. The connection between them came easily, and the hours slipped away as if the night would not end. Before saying goodbye, they made plans to meet again that Sunday for a hike to Escondido Falls in Malibu.

Before the hike, Gabriel took Gloria to the beach, perhaps hoping he could convince her to skip the trail. But Gloria was determined. As they crossed streams and made their way along the path, Gabriel laughed and told her, “You’re wild and dangerous,” admitting he had not expected so many water crossings. Together, they laughed, explored, and played beneath the waterfall. Looking back, they both believe it was during that hike, surrounded by nature, joy, and adventure, that their feelings for one another truly began to bloom.

On another occasion, Gabriel and Gloria went to CityWalk in Universal City, California, for a walk and dinner. That evening, Gabriel knew Gloria had a planned trip to Mexico, and though he understood she had to go, his heart did not want her to leave. He told her not to go, not because he wanted to hold her back, but because he was beginning to realize how deeply she had touched his heart. In that moment, Gabriel could no longer deny the love growing within him.

A few weeks later, on June 24, 2024, Gabriel planned a romantic picnic at La Mirada Regional Park. As the sun began to set and the sky softened around them, he asked Gloria to be his girlfriend.

And from that moment on, their story became one of love, faith, and a beautiful second chance.

This beautiful love story was not written by Gabriel or Gloria alone. They both believe it was written by God, whose timing is always perfect. What began as a high school connection, passed through years of distance, quiet encounters, and unexpected reconnection, became a love neither of them could have planned, but one they now cherish as divinely meant to be.
